Your rights

New York protects renters from source-of-income discrimination statewide under the Human Rights Law (Executive Law §§ 292, 296), as amended in 2019 — a landlord generally cannot refuse you simply because you would pay with a Housing Choice Voucher. You may file a complaint with the New York State Division of Human Rights.
