Your rights
Pittsburgh does not protect renters from source-of-income discrimination. The city passed an ordinance in 2015 requiring landlords to accept Housing Choice Vouchers, but it was challenged, never enforced, and struck down by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 2022 — and Pennsylvania has no statewide protection. A private landlord may legally decline your voucher. Federal Fair Housing protections still apply: a landlord may not refuse you based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.
Neighborhood
The North Side sits across the Allegheny River from downtown Pittsburgh, served by Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus routes.
