Your rights
Missouri House Bill 595 (2025) nullified Kansas City's local source-of-income ordinance and expressly allows landlords to decline Housing Choice Vouchers — so a private landlord may now legally refuse your voucher, and Missouri has no statewide protection. Federal Fair Housing protections still apply: a landlord may not refuse you based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.
Neighborhood
The 18th & Vine area sits just east of downtown Kansas City, served by RideKC bus routes with connections downtown.
