How to find and rent a CityFHEPS apartment in the Bronx, with 2026 maximum rents and your rights if a landlord refuses.
CityFHEPS is New York City's rental assistance voucher. You can use it anywhere in the five boroughs, including the Bronx. It is run by NYC's Department of Social Services (DSS/HRA) and is separate from federal Section 8.
2026 CityFHEPS maximum rent in the Bronx
CityFHEPS uses one set of maximum rents for the whole city. For landlord packages submitted on or after March 1, 2026:
| Unit | 2026 max rent |
|---|---|
| Studio | $2,604 |
| 1 bedroom | $2,734 |
| 2 bedroom | $2,997 |
| 3 bedroom | $3,753 |
These amounts assume all utilities are included in the lease. If you pay utilities yourself, the maximum is lower. See our CityFHEPS payment standards guide for every unit size. You usually pay about 30% of your income; CityFHEPS pays the rest.
